Overview
The Parroquia de San Miguel Arcángel is the heart and soul of San Miguel de Allende. Its distinctive pink neo-Gothic spires, visible from nearly everywhere in town, have become the symbol of the city and one of the most photographed churches in Mexico.
The current facade was designed in the late 19th century by indigenous mason Zeferino Gutiérrez, who reportedly based the design on postcards and lithographs of European Gothic cathedrals. The result is a unique interpretation that's become beloved worldwide.
